Fragrance Business Blossoms for Mary J. Blige

Mary J. Blige My Life BlossomMary J. Blige’s fragrance business is taking root.  The award-winning R&B singer is returning to HSN on August 13, 2011, to launch her second fragrance, My Life Blossom.  The launch, exclusively via broadcast on HSN, is a follow up to her tremendously successful first fragrance, My Life, which sold 60,000 units six hours after its release on HSN. In fact, My Life was the number one fragrance launch within a 24-hour period in the history of HSN.

My Life Blossom is a collaboration between Mary and her friend and business partner, Lisa Price of Carol's Daughter. The scent leads with bright floral notes of Gardenia Petals, Mandarin, White Freesia and Orange Flower. A heart of Tuberose, Blooming Jasmine and Marigold emerges, leading a lingering base of sexy Sandalwood, Cashmere Wood warming Vanilla.

My Life Blossom launches on HSN at midnight (Friday night into Saturday) during Mary’s appearance. The My Life Blossom Eau de Parfum fragrance sells for $55. 

For every My Life Blossom Eau de Parfum purchase, one dollar will be donated to FFAWN, The Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, a charity formed by Mary J. Blige and marketing pioneer Steve Stoute to inspire women from all walks of life to gain the confidence and skills they need to reach their individual potential through scholarships, grants and programs.

Gap Prepares to Open its First Stores in Africa

As part of its global expansion strategy, Gap announced plans to open its first store in Egypt this July and its first Gap and Banana Republic stores in Morocco this October. These store openings will mark the company’s first entry into Africa and will house Gap, GapKids and babyGap collections and Banana Republic’s accessible luxury clothes and accessories for men and women.

Saks to Open Store in Kazakhstan

The country Kazakhstan has been the punch line of many jokes, but what many jokesters probably don’t know that the country has a luxury market. Why else would Saks Fifth Avenue open a store in Kazakhstan? The plan is for a licensed Saks store to anchor the Esentai Shopping Mall in Almaty with a three-level, 91,000-square-foot store. So, you enterprising entrepreneurs, here’s your notice.
